Wednesday Pig Vigils

ANIMALS DO HAVE A VOICE.

YOU JUST REFUSE TO LISTEN.

A truck arrives full of hot, tightly packed pigs ages 6 months and younger.  From birth their destiny is already predetermined by factory farmers and an ongoing demand for Pork products.  They are deprived of food and water on average of up to 36 hours.  Cattle being allowed no food or water for 56.  They arrive hungry, thirsty, fatigue and in the most filthiest conditions, often times with urine, feces and vomit up to their ankles.

Here was a truck that arrived on a Wednesday Vigil and the Baby pigs were covered in feces and vomit. The smell was so intolerable that I had to take a step back from documenting.  This is an average condition for pigs who arrive from farms miles away.  When they are taken off the trucks they traveled in, they are prodded with electric prongs or paddles.  Often because of how large they are genetically bred to be and the long period of time they've been kept on the truck they have a hard time getting up.  Imagine you are 600 lbs and have been traveling on a hot truck with other hot bodies for days. You are tired, hungry and thirsty, and when you get to your destination a person is yelling at you to get up off this truck, but you can't.  It's almost impossible, so to get you off they decide to electrocute your already tired body. This is something that happens EVERY SINGLE DAY to thousands of Baby pigs. Not only is it unethical, it is inhumane.
